It’s Mike with AffiliatePayDay again. Here are parts six and seven of the Affiliate Marketing For Beginners 10 Keys To Success course.
Build an email list
How many web sites have you visited? Have you visited a site, found something of interest, gotten interrupted, left the site and never returned? Of course you have. Don’t let this happen to your visitors.
Ask your visitors for a first name and an email address when they visit your site. Offer them something in return for that information. If they have some interest in your offering, but leave the site for whatever reason, you can email them later, reminding them to come back to your site.
They may not purchase any of your products now, but if you stay in contact with them, they may purchase your products in the future. Plus, you can notify them when you have a new product that may be of interest to them. Remember, a lost visitor is a lost sale.
Don’t hide behind a web site
I am amazed at how many web sites I see with no name or contact information. Most people prefer to do business with someone with a real name, someone they can contact, someone they can get to know.
Provide your real name, and an email address on your website so potential customers can contact you with questions, and see there is a real person behind that website. I even recommend a “Who Am I” page on your web site that gives insight to who you are as a person.
This builds trust. However, I would keep your phone number and mailing address private until you know people contacting your are worthy of your trust.
These are just a few samples of what you will learn in AffiliatePayDay, the Beginners Guide to Affiliate Marketing.
Next time we’ll learn about building a network, diversifying, and staying the course.

nice lessons. im in the middle of adding a “who are we” section to our recent internet marketing startup. i think your point about adding trust is a strong one. for me it was more about putting a personality to our business, but i hadn’t thought about showing a real name and photo and how that could relate back to more trust in your intentions as a business.
I’ve been reading through your affiliate marketing for beginners series of posts and have been soaking up all of this knowledge. I just wanted to extend my thanks for giving me some new strategies in my marketing toolbox.
Your affiliate marketing lessons are very good. I have been an affiliate marketer for over 5 years and have been using the strategies you discussed so I can testify that they do work! Great post and great series!
“However, I would keep your phone number and mailing address private until you know people contacting your are worthy of your trust.”
Using a post office box number is a great way to provide it on the website, but value your personal safety. Many phone companies also offer a service where for just a few dollars, you can have an additional number added to your initial account. These are great ways to be available without compromising your security!
